About T'ai Chi

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is the ancient Chinese art of moving meditation, it is based on the Taoist understanding that all things are comprised of the interplay of two complimentary forces - Yin and Yang.

With its distinctive grace and flowing movements, T’ai Chi Ch’uan is becoming an increasingly popular form of relaxation in the West, as it provides an effective antidote to our stressful and competitive society. Many people practise T’ai Chi solely for its benefits to health and as a means to relieve tension. However, with a little dedicated study we find that T’ai Chi is a complete training, starting with the mind which the body naturally follows. It is meditation in movement. The stillness achieved in movement is regarded as of a higher level than the stillness reached in stillness. This is a clear and practical bridge from meditation under special circumstances to meditation under every circumstance.

  • New Beginners Tai Chi Class Tooting September 2016

All beginners are welcome on Tuesday 20th and 27th September to start learning Short Form. This group will be joining in with a group who are going through the Form for the second time, learning more detail. This makes for a great learning environment and really good insights. However, as it is not an entirely new intake, brand new students need to come along to meet the teacher, get a feel for the class and have a go at the Warm Up set before hand, so please come along on Tuesdays 5th, 12th and 19th July if possible. If this is not possible, you will need to book a couple of 121 sessions with Caro in Hampton Court or Carmen in North London, (Twickenham, Tooting and Plaistow instructors also possible) to prepare for class. This can be done any time up til 20th September 121s cost between £15-25 per hour. Get in touch for details. Those with some other T’ai Chi experience may turn up any Tuesday in July until or 20th and 27th September.
